I was looking for a new, easy to watch anime and when I found an anime with rage and cuteness in one.

What I’ve Heard

Believe it or not, I have never really heard much about Aggretsuko. I knew that it was full of rage and it was based on a workplace but that’s all I knew. I never thought that it would be my kind of show though.

Expectations

With each episode only being fifteen minutes long, I didn’t expect to gain much from watching the show. The characters are super simple yet so cute so I was super unsure of if I’d like it or not.

Thoughts while watching it

Retsuko is a red panda character from the Sanrio franchise. She’s basically an office lady who works in the accounting department. She’s often stressed out and has pent up frustration, mainly because of work. To release that stress and frustration, she secretly karaokes to heavy metal. Hence, Aggressive Retsuko (Aggretsuko).

The show is seemingly cute and funny. I really did enjoy it so far. It’s a great short watch since each episode is about 15 minutes long. However, it’s not just interesting because it’s seemingly cute and funny. The show is quite relatable. If you work in a stressful situation or maybe have too much stress in your life, you will completely be able to relate to Retsuko.

Retsuko basically works hard and is just doing her best to live. However, her bosses at work are assholes. Especially her male boss who is a literal chauvinistic pig.

I actually really enjoyed the show after the first episode. Not just because it’s cute, funny, and that it brings societal issues and pressures to light. I am looking forward to watching the rest of the series and having series two come out this year.
