If you know me then you’ll know that I love Gravity Falls. Sadly, I’ve watched all of Gravity Falls a lot of times now so I’m always on the hunt for similar things to watch.
I was scrolling though the internet when I noticed a show that was similar to Gravity Falls. That show is called Hilda!
I decided to throw myself into the show without watching the trailer because I feel like trailers often ruin a show for me.
Hilda is based off the graphic novel series by Luke Pearson. Both the graphic novels and the show follow the story of Hilda; a fearless girl who lives with her mum and her pet Deerfox names Twig. Hilda and her family lived in a forest cabin. That is until certain events happen which force Hilda and her mom and a little elf named Aulfur to move to the city of Trolberg and the show follows Hilda as she learns to adapt to city life, meet new friends and discovers all sorts of weird and mysterious things along the way.

Sound familiar? If you’re getting Gravity Falls vibes I do not blame you!
Hilda is being compare to Gravity Falls by many. Hilda herself is in a way, a mix of Dipper and Mabel. She has Dipper’s interests in the wilderness and the unknown. She also gets along with people and has a personality that is just like Mabel’s when it comes to being caring to others.
But as you all know, Hilda is a whole other show and sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t be comparing all shows to Gravity Falls. While it is nice to compare the showers, I feel like you should watch tv shows as if Gravity Falls never existed.
Not only does Hilda have great characters but it’s visually breathtaking. The animation flows beautifuly, the backgrounds are stunning and the scenery is perfect.

Hilda has me sat watching with a huge grin on my face. Hilda’s humour is pretty straight up and sophisticated. The humour is very ‘British’. The show is absolutely full of tea jokes.
Out of all the animation shows that I have watched thanks to Gravity Falls, Hilda is a person favourite. It is even pretty close competition with Gravity Falls for my all time favourite animation show. It’s full of nostalgia, pretty visuals, fun characters and amazing stories to top it off.
If you’re in need of something to watch and you’ve already watched Gravity Falls, I definitely recommend that you check out Hilda. It is worth watching even if you didn’t like/haven’t seen Gravity Falls.
