Let’s talk a little bit about fat hygiene. Embarrassing, I know but it’s something that need to be talked about.

There’s topics in life that no one wants to talk about. Those topics include things like periods, sex and most things to do with fatter bodies. If you’re a fat babe like myself, you’ll probably not want to go around talking about fat hygiene! That is why I’m writing this post.

Hygiene is important for literally everyone. No matter what size you are, you need to be clean! However, it can be harder for bigger bodies as we have rolls and saggy bits that can be harder to reach or to keep clean.

If you asked me a few years ago, how I kept my fat body clean then I wouldn’t know what to say. I didn’t know that fat people needed to do things differently or anything like that. I figured you just smothered your body in shower gel and you’re clean.

If you ask me now, I would have a completely different answer for you. For me, it was hard at first to come to the conclusion that I needed to do things differently. I didn’t like being different but now I’m okay with it.

But that’s enough of talking about me. You aren’t here to hear my story, you’re here for advice so advice I shall give you.

If you have some fat rolls, saggy skin or anything that rubs, you’ll know about how sweaty those areas can get. If you don’t clean them areas enough, they will get a bit sticky and smelly. I want to specially talk about a few areas that tend to be a difficult area for some fat people.

Tummy

Okay, I thought that I would start here as this is the biggest problem area for me personally. I hate my lower tummy. It is saggy and full of rolls. They overlap and rub which causes a lot of sweat, especially in the hot weather. It happens in the cold weather too though.

Unfortunately, I don’t have many tips for this as I’m still working it all about for myself but for me, I need to shower often to help this situation. When you are showering, don’t be afraid to lift up your rolls and fully clean underneath. I use a shower puff and really scrub away the dirt! You can pick them up for around 50p in most shops and they are definitely worth it. If you can’t reach underneath, you could try a shower puff on a stick.

Underarms

Armpit sweat is horrible and is probably the most smelly part for me. If I don’t shower often enough then they start to really smell. I have very sensitive skin so I can’t use most deodorants. However, I do use Avon deodorant which is scent free and great for me. It’s a roll on which I find keep you smelling fresh for longer.

Underboob

If you’re a woman and have boobs, you’ll probably know about under-boob sweat. It’s a nightmare!

Because my tummy is big and so are my boobs, it makes everything very sweaty. If I don’t use my shower puff under my boobs, sweat gathers and make me very itchy. It is one of the most annoying things ever.

To combat this, I try to wear a bra with a good lift. This stops the boob sweat a little and stops my boobs from rubbing on my tummy. If that doesn’t work, a little bit of roll on deodorant under the boobs helps a lot. Just make sure to shower at the end of the day and wash it off so it doesn’t make you just as itchy.

Thighs

They say that mermaids don’t have thigh gaps and that is true but neither do I. My thighs touch and so do many other people’s. If your thighs touch or rub then you know that it’s a nightmare in the summer. The chub rub is awful!

To stop this, there are a few options. You can try wearing cycling shorts under a dress or skirt, you can rub roll on deodorant on your thighs or you can try applying talc on your thighs. All of these things have worked for me. I hope they work for you.

Also, the value of a person is not dependent on their smell. Even if you do end up a bit stinky, you are still a valuable and worthwhile person, okay?

Although I’m not a heavy lady (I’m a size 12) I have massive boobs (size 36FF) so can really relate to the big boobs part of this blog post darling, it made me chuckle! 💜
