Little Tips To Be More Creative

One of my goals for 2020 was to unlock my creative side a little more. I used to spend so much of my time drawing, painting, taking photos and writing. I miss it so much as I just felt so much more free when I was expressing myself through creativity.

As I’m trying to get back into the creative side of my brain, I thought I would make a list in my notes full of tips that would help me be more creative. While I was writing, I figured that this list could help others too so I decided to share it here on my blog.

♡ Start recording all of your thoughts on paper or a notes app.
♡ Make a list of all of your ideas.
♡ Write down where you found your ideas. Note where you were and what you were doing. Even note down what you could see and hear.
♡ Watch or listen to something from years ago.
♡ Create something that embarrasses you.
♡ Try writing something from a different perspective.
♡ Find a problem and jot down eight different solutions. They don’t have to be good or even realistic.
♡ Create a playlist full of a new music genre.
♡ Switch up your daily routine.
♡ Tidy up your workspace.
♡ Try a new food or drink.
♡ Start writing morning pages. If you don’t know what that is, it’s where you write three pages of completely random things every morning. No topic needed, just random thoughts.
♡ Spend some time outside.
♡ Stay up late.
♡ Collaborate with someone.
♡ Try spending the day without internet.
♡ Spend some time completely alone.
♡ Write down your dreams and nightmares.
♡ Travel somewhere new.
♡ Talk to other creative people.
♡ Stop aiming for perfection.

No matter how you keep yourself motivated to be creative, just keep on going. Once you stop using your creativity the world becomes a little more boring.

How do you keep yourself feeling creative? Do you go through periods of time where you feel like you have creative block? How do you cope with those times?

  1. This is a great list! I think collaborating is a good way to keep the creatives vibes around. I would also recommend reading ‘The Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron. It’s full of inspiration! x

  2. Great tips. Mine favourites are going for a walk, journaling and writing down ideas as a way to clear mental clutter. I also light a candle to make my creative space cozy.

  3. These are great tips! I have started journalling again. I used to do it all the time so I have started again in 2020. I like to write down all my ideas. Colouring and doodling is another one. Thank you for sharing your tips xx

  4. Hi, your tips are simply awesome! A note app on phone or a little notebook can be handy in case of creativity overload! Sometimes, I would find a good question on Twitter which I think can be a good writing prompt, so I screenshot too.
