Self care is important all the time can it can be difficult to practise self care when you’re going through a tough time.
On bad mental health days, it can feel like nothing is possible and we completely forget to take care of ourselves. We might even end up wrapping ourselves in a blanket and doing nothing all day.
However, when you feel like that, it’s time to pause, take a deep breath and take care of yourself. This is the perfect time to practise self care.

I have created this super simple list of ideas so that when you’re having a bad mental health day, you have some ideas of little self care activities you can try.
Remember, Self-care is different for everyone. Sometimes it’s face masks, bubble baths and binge-watching your favourite show all day. Other times it’s having a shower, taking a walk and cooking a lovely meal. Self-care is personal and should be whatever you need, as long as it’s healthy.
So, here are so ideas that might work for some people..
♡ Open the curtains
♡ Dance around your room to music
♡ Change into clean pyjamas
♡ Drink some water
♡ Take some time for meditation
♡ Unfollow accounts that don’t make you happy
♡ Play your favourite video game
♡ Wash your hair
♡ Do some colouring
♡ Cook yourself a nice meal
♡ Paint your nails
♡ Put on a face mask
♡ Brush your teeth
♡ Read a chapter of a book
♡ Cuddle with a loved one
♡ Watch your favourite film
♡ Wonder around a library
♡ De-clutter a small space in your home
♡ Limit your screen time
♡ Take a walk
♡ Try a new recipe

♡ Make a list of things you’re grateful for
Don’t feel guilty for taking time for yourself. Self care is important.
Basic self-care won’t cure you or solve all your problems but please never neglect it. You might not be cured from a shower, a nice meal, good quality sleep and some sunshine, but you’ll feel a lot better.

These are some lovely ideas, I I especially agree that having enough sleep is integral to practising good self care habits 🙂

This list has loads of good suggestions on. Depending on how down I’m feeling, looking after my health helps – like drinking water and eating well. When I’m really really down, I’ll try extra hard to go out and walk the dogs. Getting fresh air and being in nature refreshes me.
