Cottagecore is all about living a simple and beautiful life. It’s about making each moment special and appreciating what we have in life. That’s why Valentine’s Day is a great time to live a cottagecore lifestyle.

Whether you’re in a relationship or not, Valentine’s Day can still be a time of love. It could be self love, the love you have for a friend or love you have for a partner.

In honour of Valentine’s Day, here are some activities for spreading the love.

Indoor Picnic

It might be a little too cold outside but that’s not going to stop us from having fun. Simply grab a blanket, some yummy treats and your favourite drink. Then you have yourself the perfect indoor blanket. You can grab some board games, books and paints too so you have some fun activities during the picnic. If that doesn’t sound like your kind of thing, you could watch a cosy film instead.

Home Movie Night

Speaking of cosy films, a great way to spend Valentine’s Day evening is by having a movie night. My favourite thing about movie nights is that you can make them as simple or complicated as you wish. If you want to just get your pjs on, sit on the sofa and watch a film then that sounds great. If you want to make a snack charcuterie board, wear your fanciest pyjamas while you watch films then that sounds great too. One of my dream movie night ideas is building a fort and watching a movie in it.

Self Care

What better way to celebrate the season of love than by working on self love. Self care is different to everyone. Sometimes it’s having a relaxing bath with a good book, other times its meal prepping for the week. No matter how you choose to self care, keep in mind that it’s an activity of love for yourself. You deserve to look after yourself.

Get Crafty

Homemade is an important part of the cottagecore lifestyle. Whether you’re a naturally creative person or you need to follow a tutorial, there’s plenty of homemade activities to fill your time. You could make cards for your loved ones, bake some bread, scrapbook or crochet. Whatever you’re into, there’s probably a craft out there for you.

Gardening and Plants

A key element of cottagecore is nature. If you have a garden, you could spend the day pottering around while planning what you’ll grown next. If you don’t have a garden (like me) then indoor plants are your best friend. You could tend to your plants, do some propagation, or sew some seeds. Not only is this a lovely way to spend valentine’s Day but it also means you have more nature to add around your home for that cosy feeling.

Bookish Date

One of my favourite date ideas for couples is taking a trip to the bookstore and choosing books for each other. You can then swap once you’ve read them and chat about your reads. Talking about books is one of the best parts of being a reader.

No matter how you choose to spend your day, remember that love comes in a variety of forms and you are loved exactly how you are.

Have a lovely Valentine’s Day!

Such a lovely list – I can’t wait to try the indoor picnic! My partner and I did a bookish date to the library for our anniversary one year and it was so perfect. We each picked a book, opened up a bottle of wine and just sat in bed reading together.
