Raise The Stakes With These Minigames From Big Console Releases

Video games fall into two categories: those that are focused on a sole objective or mission and those with other things to see and do aside from the mission. For example, in the New Pokémon Snap game, players are tasked with taking photos of Pokémon to learn more about them, thereby having a sole objective. On the other hand, in Police Quest homicide, detective John Carey can choose to play the 1979 minigame Asteroids aside from his main objective, thus allowing for a new form of entertainment within the game itself. Sometimes, the minigames can be as engrossing as the main game, and even make it a better experience for the gamer. Developers have tried many different types of minigames, and here are our top picks from big consoles.

1. Golf in Grand Theft Auto V

Golf is a sport that is loved by people from all over the world, and so is racing. Grand Theft Auto V combined two amazing sports when golf was added as a minigame. If a racer is feeling flushed from the competition on the road, the players can drive to the entrance of the Los Santos Golf Club and pay the $100 entrance fee to begin a game of golf. The golf course is made up of 9 holes ranging from Par 3s and Par 5s, and you can play with different golf club members of various skill levels. Many racers like to go for a game of golf as a reward for completing missions or as a well deserved breather from the action-filled gameplay.

2. Poker within Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption has multiple minigames, as other Rockstar releases usually have. But out of all the minigames to choose from, Poker is probably the most entertaining one.

The popular Texas Hold’em variety was used in Red Dead Redemption, the variety most likely known to most players. Poker was a standard Wild West game found in virtually every saloon, which meant the minigame added to the overall feel of a true cowboy experience. Red Dead Redemption is already an amazing action-adventure game and when combined with the most popular card game, it becomes is a perfect combination of entertainment on the American frontier. Perhaps this is why a popular minigame in an already amazing game attracts so many players that end up wanting to play more.

3. Gwent within The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher is a popular series of fantasy action role-playing games, but when Gwent was added to The Witcher 3 as a minigame, its popularity skyrocketed even more! It is so intertwined with the game that some of the missions require the players to win a game of Gwent to move on. Gwent is a fast-paced dwarven card game about the fight between two armies locked in combat on a battlefield with the players serving as the generals and the cards are their forces. The combination of Gwent as a card game mixed in with The Witcher exploring the open world provides a relaxing form of entertainment amidst the wild and dangerous adventures. Just like how humans enjoy cards, dwarves and elves in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt love playing cards too!

4. Dead Ops Arcade within Call of Duty Black Ops

Call of Duty Black Ops is a first-person shooter game, but with the addition of the Dead Ops Arcade game, it’s a twin shooter game. The Dead Ops Arcade game is a hidden minigame in the third Zombies map. A player can unlock the minigame by typing “DOA” or “3ARC UNLOCK” into the CIA computer. The mix of these two games into one is a very effective strategy to amplify the player’s enjoyment because both games, at their core, are really one and the same – shoot and try to survive for as many rounds as possible. Unlike other minigames that completely change the pace of the primary game, this minigame gives the player a familiar objective but with a different perspective.

Games are a wonderful form of entertainment, but the monotony can be overwhelming at times, and you just want a breather to refresh your love for the game. Try these games, and their mini-games, and experience double the excitement with a single game!

Top 8 Inspiring Fictional Characters

Sometimes we come across a character whether that’s in a book, film or any other form, and that character inspires us to be a better version of ourselves.

Finding a character who makes you feel like you can be the best version of yourself is a great feeling. So here are some of my most inspiring fictional characters..

Anne Shirley

There was no way I could write a post about inspiring characters and not mention Anne from Anne of Green Gables. Anne teaches us to use our imagination, be okay with making mistakes, and to appreciate the little things in life.

Rory Gilmore

This choice is probably a bit of a controversial one in the Gilmore Girls community. Sure, Rory makes mistakes and can be incredibly annoying. However, early-season Rory inspires me to read more, educate myself, and be a kind friend. While we are on the topic, are you team Dean, Jess, or Logan?

Éowyn

Éowyn is a fictional character in The Lord of the Rings. She’s unsatisfied with her life and decides to go about changing it herself to live the life she wants to. She’s the ultimate badass who rides into battle and kills the Lord of the Nazgûls, the Witch-King of Angmar once and for all. Éowyn doesn’t get as much credit as she deserves.

Enola Holmes

Being the younger sibling of Sherlock Holmes, it’s not surprising that Enola is smart, observant and has great sleuthing skills. She defies gender norms and set out to live her life the way that she wishes.

Beth March

Beth is one of the four main protagonists in Little Women. All four of them are inspiring to me, but for this post, I decided just to mention Beth. She’s known for being musical and extremely pleasant. Although Beth is shy and quiet, she is also sweet, kind, honest and gentle.

Matilda

Who wouldn’t be inspired by a kind, book loving girl who can move things with her mind? Matilda teaches people that kindness, friendship, and love are some of the most important things in life. Even in hard times, Matilda tries to see the positives and I think we can all take a little something from that.

Belle

Belle from Beauty and the Beast is another character who loves to read. She teaches us to see inner beauty and not fall for a pretty face. She’s also willing to sacrifice herself for her father which inspires us to be selfless and love the people around us.

Jane Eyre

No matter what Jane went through, she was always determined to live the life she deserved. Throughout her life she suffers quite a bit, but no matter what Jane finds a way to get back onto her feet and keep going. Jane is independent and knows what she deserves, and doesn’t settle for less. I think we should all live like that.

New Pokémon Snap ♡ Gaming Review

New Pokemon Snap is a relaxing and fun game for any Pokemon fan. In the game, players are tasked with helping Professor Mirror explore the islands of the Lental region. With your research camera at the ready, you become a Pokemon researcher who explores islands and takes photos of Pokemon in order to learn more about them and the way they live.

You are given unlimited access to the NEO-ONE which is a high tech vehicle that allows you to teleport and survive in all kinds of environments. You do not control the NEO-ONE as New Pokemon Snap is an on-rails game but believe me, you won’t feel restricted in this game at all.

I was never able to play the original Pokemon Snap when it was released back in 1999, so I didn’t feel the nostalgia that many others did when New Pokemon Snap was announced. That definitely doesn’t mean that I wasn’t excited though.

I Binge Watched Every Marvel Movie And These Are My Thoughts

I’ve been a Marvel fan since 2014 when I watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier in the cinema. Before then, I had watched a few of the films but never really fully invested. After watching The Winter Soldier, I decided I wanted to learn more about the Marvel Universe. I did a little research and watched a few more of the earlier films. It was great!

Since then, I have invested more and more of my time into the Marvel Universe. I’ve watched most of the films and enjoyed them. However, I didn’t seem to remember every single detail.

That is why… I decided to rewatch every Marvel film.

Since rewatching all the films, I thought of some things that I felt I wanted to share. Hence, this blog post.

A Few Snaps of My Animal Crossing Home Interior

Animal Crossing has become a huge part of my life again. I found myself getting bored of the game at the end of last year but I found myself loving it again in January.

Since I’ve started playing ACNH more again, I thought that it might be fun to show you all some screenshots of my home interior.

The Living Room

My living room is definitely not my normal style but I found myself loving the antique furniture in the game so I focused my living room decor around the antique furniture.

My Animal Crossing living room is so cosy, I just can’t get enough of it. I think that adding a lot of plants and green with the brown/orange of the antique furniture looks so warm and relaxing.
